Access to free eye care in Bangladesh remains a significant challenge for many people, particularly those living in rural and underserved communities. Limited healthcare facilities, financial hardship, and a lack of awareness often prevent individuals from receiving timely eye examinations and treatment. As a result, many people continue to live with preventable vision problems that affect their education, employment, and overall quality of life.
Recognizing this need, SNAD Foundation Bangladesh organized a Free Eye Care Camp in Barguna, Barishal on 10 May 2026, providing essential eye care services to hundreds of people who otherwise had limited access to professional medical support.
Why Free Eye Care Matters
Healthy vision plays a vital role in everyday life. Whether it is a student trying to learn in the classroom, a farmer working in the fields, or an elderly person carrying out daily activities, good eyesight allows individuals to live independently and participate fully in society.
Unfortunately, many common eye conditions go untreated because families cannot afford regular eye check-ups or corrective glasses. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent complications and improve the quality of life for thousands of people across Bangladesh.
Community-based eye care initiatives help bridge this gap by bringing healthcare services directly to people who need them the most.
Services Provided During the Eye Care Camp
The Free Eye Care Camp in Barguna offered comprehensive services designed to identify and treat common vision problems.
Participants received:
- Free eye examinations conducted by qualified eye specialists
- Free powered eyeglasses for individuals with vision impairment
