Building Sustainable Livelihoods, Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
Launched in 2021, Shonirbhor Bangladesh is a flagship livelihoods initiative of SNAD Foundation Bangladesh designed to create lasting economic independence for marginalized households. The program moves beyond short term assistance by equipping individuals with the assets, skills, and confidence needed to generate stable income and build resilient futures. By strengthening livelihoods at the household level, Shonirbhor Bangladesh lays the groundwork for long term community development.
The Challenge: Poverty Without Pathways
Across rural and peri urban Bangladesh, many families remain trapped in poverty due to limited access to productive assets, capital, and market opportunities. Smallholder farmers lack basic tools and inputs, while aspiring entrepreneurs struggle to secure start up funds or business guidance. Without sustainable income sources, households face food insecurity, debt, and vulnerability to economic shocks.

Our Intervention and Impact
Shonirbhor Bangladesh addresses these barriers by providing targeted livelihood support tailored to local needs and opportunities. SNAD Foundation Bangladesh supports beneficiaries with livestock such as goats, cows, and poultry, agricultural tools and inputs for smallholder farmers, and small grants to start or expand micro and small enterprises. This asset based approach is strengthened through capacity building, business mentoring, and ongoing follow up to ensure long term success.
The program has helped improve household income, strengthen food security, and stimulate local entrepreneurship, contributing to more resilient communities. Shonirbhor Bangladesh directly supports SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by enabling dignified work and sustainable economic growth. Through this initiative, SNAD Foundation Bangladesh is creating clear pathways out of poverty, one household at a time.
