In the charming town of Barishal, Bangladesh, lived a brave seven-year-old boy named Zahidul, who faced a daunting challenge: a congenital heart defect called ventricular septal defect (VSD). Despite his illness, Zahidul’s spirit remained unbroken, igniting hope in the hearts of those around him.
In February 2023, that hope sparked to life when the SNAD Foundation set up a medical camp in Banaripara. Eager for answers, Zahidul’s family attended the camp, where the compassionate medical team confirmed his condition. However, they delivered the heavy news that the surgery Zahidul needed was beyond the camp’s resources. But rather than giving up, the SNAD team connected with Zahidul’s mother, promising to guide them on their journey toward healing.
Fast forward to April 2023, and Zahidul’s family made the courageous trip to Dhaka, where our dedicated team and specialist doctors reviewed his case. The verdict was clear: surgery was essential. Yet, fear weighed heavily on Zahidul’s mother, causing her to momentarily retreat.
But in September 2023, a shift occurred. With newfound determination, Zahidul’s family reached out again, ready to take the leap toward surgery. The SNAD Foundation sprang into action, coordinating with specialist doctors and preparing for the crucial day.
On September 22nd, Zahidul and his family arrived in Dhaka, filled with a mix of hope and anxiety. The SNAD Foundation ensured their comfort as Zahidul was admitted to Shishu Hospital on September 24th.
The morning of September 25th arrived, bringing a blend of anticipation and hope. As Zahidul underwent surgery, prayers and well-wishes flowed in from all corners of the globe. Finally, the surgery was complete, and Zahidul was moved to the ICU for monitoring.
After a successful operation, Zahidul’s recovery journey began. Just three days later, he was discharged, his strength shining through.
Now back in Barishal, Zahidul is surrounded by the love of his family, who are filled with joy at seeing their son vibrant and full of life. No longer weighed down by fatigue, Zahidul is free to play with his friends, explore his surroundings, and dream big.
