Akib was born in a rural village in Bangladesh with a cleft lip and palate, a condition that brought unnecessary blame and judgment upon his parents. His mother faced cruel accusations, while his father struggled with the financial and emotional burden of the surgery Akib needed.
Hope arrived when the family learned about SNAD Foundation’s Cleft Centre, offering free cleft surgery for children in Bangladesh. With compassionate guidance, Akib underwent surgery, lifting the weight of guilt and fear from his parents’ shoulders.
After the operation, Akib gained confidence, began attending school, and played joyfully with other children. Though he still requires speech therapy, his transformation demonstrates the life-changing impact of free cleft surgery in Bangladesh.
